Cookie Policy
Last updated: April 2026
1. Introduction
This Cookie Policy explains how WAIMAKERS ("we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on our website waimakers.com (the "Website"). When you first visit our Website, a cookie consent banner allows you to accept or decline non-essential cookies.
2. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently and to provide information to the website owners.
Types of Cookies
- Session Cookies: Temporary cookies that are deleted when you close your browser
- Persistent Cookies: Cookies that remain on your device until they expire or you delete them
- First-Party Cookies: Cookies set by the website you are visiting (our Website)
- Third-Party Cookies: Cookies set by third parties whose services we use on our Website
3. How We Use Cookies
We use cookies on our Website for the following purposes:
3.1 Essential Cookies
These cookies are necessary for the Website to function properly. They enable core functionality such as security, network management, and accessibility. You may not opt-out of these cookies.
- Google reCAPTCHA v3: We use Google reCAPTCHA to protect our forms from spam and abuse. This service may collect hardware and software information, such as device data and application data, and send this data to Google for analysis. Learn more about Google's Privacy Policy.
waimakers_cookie_consent_v1(first-party, 180 days): stores whether you accepted or declined optional cookies. It is shared between waimakers.com and careers.waimakers.com so your choice applies on both sites.waimakers_consent_grant_v1(first-party, up to 180 days): a random consent-generation value used only in your browser to prevent analytics identifiers or campaign attribution from an earlier consent period being reused after you withdraw and later accept again. It is deleted when you decline and is never sent to analytics providers.- Aggregate consent measurement: On each document load, we increment a shared hourly counter for the current consent status and for banner choices. The counter contains only the hour, language and total. It contains no IP address, cookie, visitor or session ID, URL, referrer or user agent, and cannot be used to follow an individual.
3.2 Campaign Attribution Cookie
This first-party cookie is not an analytics cookie: it does not follow you from page to page, it does not follow you across other websites, and it is never shared with an advertising network. It is written only after you accept.
waimakers_attribution(first-party, 90 days): stores the campaign parameters contained in the link you arrived through (utm_source,utm_medium,utm_campaign,utm_content,utm_term), the page you landed on, and the address of the website that referred you. If you later buy a place on a paid programme, these values are passed to our payment provider Stripe so that we can see which campaign led to that purchase. The cookie holds no name, email address or other identifier, and we do not use it to build a profile of you. While you are still deciding, those campaign details are held in your browser's memory and never stored on your device; if you decline, they are discarded and nothing is written. Withdrawing through Cookie settings deletes this cookie on both WAIMAKERS sites.
3.3 Analytics Cookies
We use analytics cookies to collect information about how visitors use our Website. This helps us improve our Website and your browsing experience. These cookies are only loaded after you accept cookies via our consent banner.
- Vercel Analytics: Collects privacy-focused usage metrics such as page views, referrers, and device/browser information.
- Vercel SpeedInsights: Measures and monitors website performance metrics.
- Google Analytics 4: Measures website traffic and usage patterns.
- Snitcher: Identifies which companies visit our website, by looking up the organisation behind your IP address, so that we can see which businesses are interested in our services. It identifies the organisation, not you personally. Read Snitcher's privacy policy.
- PostHog (EU Cloud, served through waimakers.com/ingest): product analytics. Once you accept, PostHog records page views, clicks and interactions with form fields — not the text you type into them, which is masked — as well as loading performance and JavaScript errors. It also records a replay of your session that we can play back to see where visitors get stuck, and builds heatmaps from that same interaction data. If you then submit a form, we attach the email address you entered to that PostHog profile, which links the browsing recorded in this session to you by name. The data is stored and processed in the EU. Read PostHog's privacy policy.
3.4 Marketing and Advertising Cookies
We use these cookies to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. These cookies are only loaded after you accept cookies via our consent banner.
- LinkedIn Insight Tag: Tracks conversions, retargets website visitors, and provides insights about our website visitors. This helps us measure the effectiveness of our LinkedIn advertising campaigns. Learn more about LinkedIn cookies.
4. Your Cookie Choices
When you first visit our Website, you will see a cookie consent banner that gives you the choice to:
- Accept: All cookies described above will be loaded
- Decline: No analytics or marketing scripts will load, and no campaign attribution cookie is written. Only the essential cookies in Section 3.1 are used, because those do not depend on your consent
To withdraw consent you have already given, use the Cookie settings link at the bottom of any page. It reopens this banner so you can decline, and the analytics and marketing scripts then stop running. If you also want to remove cookies that were already placed, including the attribution cookie, delete the site data for waimakers.com in your browser (Section 5).
5. Managing Cookies in Your Browser
Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can:
- Block cookies: Set your browser to block all cookies or just third-party cookies
- Delete cookies: Delete cookies that are already stored on your device
- Allow cookies: Set your browser to notify you when a website attempts to place a cookie
Here are links to instructions for managing cookies in common browsers:
You can also opt out of specific third-party cookies:
- For PostHog, decline cookies in our banner; the PostHog script is then never loaded and no request reaches PostHog at all. Note that PostHog is served from our own domain, so browser settings that block only third-party cookies will not block it once you have accepted
- For Google Analytics, use Google's browser add-on or your browser privacy settings
- For LinkedIn, adjust your advertising preferences in your LinkedIn account settings
6. What Happens If You Decline Cookies?
If you choose to decline cookies:
- Essential cookies will still function as they are necessary for the Website to work properly
- No analytics or marketing scripts will be loaded
- We count the visit and consent status only in the non-identifying hourly totals described in Section 3.1
- We will not track your browsing across the Website or serve personalised ads
- You can still submit a form. We process and store the details needed to answer your request, but we do not send a PostHog analytics event and do not link the submission to a browsing session
- Your experience on our Website will not be meaningfully affected
7. Changes to This Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, regulation, or our business practices. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
8. Additional Information About Online Tracking
In addition to cookies, we may use other technologies for tracking (only when consent is given):
- Web beacons: Small transparent image files used to track conversions
- Local storage: Methods like localStorage that store data on your browser (used for consent preferences)
