What you need
- A skill is a folder with a SKILL.md file and optional scripts and reference files, packaged as .skill or .zip. Claude loads it when your task fits.
- Available on Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise. Code execution must be enabled. Only upload skills from a trusted source.
How to install
- On an individual account, open Settings > Capabilities and turn on Code execution and file creation, called Create and edit files in the updated layout. On Team or Enterprise, ask IT to check the organisation settings below.
- Open Customize > Skills > + > Create skill > Upload a skill.
- Choose the .skill or .zip file you receive from your trainer. Do not unzip it. Repeat for each workshop skill.
- Check that the skill's toggle is on. Start a new chat and type / to see your skills.
Nuances
- Team has Skills enabled at organisation level by default. On Enterprise, an Owner must enable code execution and Skills. User-created skills must also be on for personal uploads.
- Enterprise custom roles also need Create skills. Owners on Team and Enterprise can provision skills for everyone, so members do not have to upload them individually.

If it will not work
- No Upload a skill option? Check the intended workspace, then ask IT to check Plugins & skills > Policy and your role. User-created skills being off blocks personal uploads regardless of role.
- Open the IT checklist for Skills and web search
